SPITHA – INDEPENDENT CITIZENS’ MOVEMENT
PATRIOTIC MOVEMENT FOR RESISTANCE – DISENGAGEMENT - INDEPENDENCE AND DEVELOPMENT
Our national wealth and the Fight for Resistance-Disengagement-Independence and Development
We will seek for τhat purpose to create a wide fighting front which will realize our vision. Our goals are, seeking to take on our side the majority of the Greek people, to eliminate the existing system of political and economic power that is accountable for the suffering it has caused Greece and the Greek people and to bring independent, honest and competent patriot citizens to the governance of the country.
Our patriotic Movement aspires to play the role of the pioneer visionary, leader and organizer, without
claiming roles and positions of power based on monopolistic grounds. That is because we believe that in our fight to achieve these goals, there will emerge independent, honest and capable individuals, from the very core of the Greek people, who will undertake this mammoth task. In other words, we will be driven out of the Tartarus, where we have been thrown by dependent, dishonest and incompetent masters, towards the summit, where Greece and its people deserve to be.
The certainty that the concealed wealth amounts to trillions of Euros makes our country self-sufficient and rich. Already, the deposits located south of Crete, ready for immediate use, are estimated at 1 trillion Euros. Looking ahead, if and when there is a proper exploitation, they will rise to 17 trillion Euros within 20 years. This will make Greece a unique feeder for Europe, alongside Russia. As you can see, no other sources of wealth (Ionian sea, ores, etc.), have been accounted for, as the above is by itself enough to convince the Greeks that they are self-sufficient and wealthy people and have no need of protectors and implacable friends.
The problem, however, is that some of our "friends" are already aware of these concealed treasures and in all likelihood led us intentionally to this crisis, raising our public debt from 112% to 180% of GDP within two and a half years, binding us hand and foot, neutralizing us so that they seize all this wealth, under colonial-style conditions. Besides, there is a relative term in Memorandum I, which stipulates that in case we are not able to pay back the interests, our lenders will have the right to be paid in “kind”, i.e. to take pieces of our national wealth. And by "pieces", we mean everything! Even our ancient monuments. It is natural, therefore – since they are essentially stealing public wealth- that they begin by the most valuable, namely hydrocarbons. The infamous FUND was created for this purpose, under the excuse that by selling e.g. the Helliniko airport area, both foreign capital flows in and our natural wealth is utilized. Ports, airports and highways are already in the list.
You might ask what an Independent Government could do differently. It is obvious that for the utilization of public wealth we need capital and know - how. The key in our relations with potential partners is to identify the way that will allow us to preserve the right of property in all cases and the financial conditions under which our cooperation will take place. We believe that the Consortium model for every project secures us for both cases. That is, on the one hand we ensure our sovereign rights, while on the other hand, the other party's remuneration corresponds to the costs paid.
It is certain that under the current circumstances in our country and given the fact that the government is manipulated by three bank employees, if this situation is prolonged, we will wake up one day and we’ll be strangers in our own country, which in the meantime will have been in one way or another handed over to our voracious lenders.
That is why we sound the alarm and call the Greek people to come out of dormancy and rise up to save the country and secure their children’s future.
Isn’t there, I wonder, a handful of honest people in this country, able to govern it, without having foreign bosses on top and without being dependent –like the current government is- on financial tycoons and media moguls? The corruption for which the foreigners blame the Greek people lies in this filthy bargain taking place at the summit of power and is symbolized so tragically, I would say, by the case of Akis Tsochatzopoulos. Is there only one Akis? Or does –as is most likely- his case characterize the decomposition of a Power System that destroyed the country and is unfortunately still destroying it?
Our first goal is the conquest of our national independence. Following: the annulment of the Memoranda, the recognition of the EEZ, the cessation of payments, the settlement of legal non-odious interests in accordance with Greek, European and international law. The immediate conclusion of agreements - consortia for the most rapid exploitation of our national wealth, which is one of the main elements of the National Development Plan in the rest of the sectors. The adoption of a new Constitution for a democratic governance, as true and direct as possible.
The conquest of National Independence means complete freedom to establish economic relations, which will ensure not only our collaboration with States and Companies for the exploitation especially of hydrocarbons, but also other major projects in key sectors of our national economy.
I shall now move on to the positions and role of SPITHA.
The first phase of Spitha that started in December 2010 was, shall we say, a defensive one, or rather the organization of the defense of our people against the great evil that was brought upon us with the betrayal of the first Memorandum.
We were the first ones to reveal the demonic nature of this unprecedented agreement according to which a country ceded its National Independence without war and without a fight, as if the Independence of a people is a shirt, is nothing. And together with that it handed over to the creditors the wealth of the country, removing our right to negotiate even one Euro with third parties.
I repeat clearly that this has never happened again in the three thousand year old history of our country. And it was only natural that it should lead to the actual dramatic impasse. As I said, we, who foresaw early this development, are the only ones that today seek the unity of the people, continuing to believe that it constitutes the only solution for the salvation of our country.
Waves of protests had preceded, all of them requiring from us unity and fighting until the end. That is, the capture by popular vote of the System of political and economic Power enforced by foreigners and serving their rights with the creation of a Nationwide People’s Resistance Front, and its replacement by a popular Power that is Representative, Independent and capable of making the first basic step, the annulment of the Memorandum and the recovery of our National Independence.
And when in February 2012 we created ELLADA, we witnessed with what strength a huge crowd flooded the center of Athens. Almost 500.000 people, with a longing, a command and a wish: Keep Unity, Broaden Unity, Give wings to Unity, because that is how we, the people, will gain wings and the strength to get rid of the huge burden that’s choking us.
But suddenly everybody left; they scattered here and there, and we were thus left alone, as always outside the System of political and economic Power and against it. And this flight, the trampling of people's unity, brought back to power parties in favor of the Memorandum, while the people sank into a general crisis, the worst form of which being the one that led the most desperate ones to the arms of the Golden Dawn.
As was only natural, all that plunged the country even deeper and led our people to the most desperate situations experienced since the Civil War.
For this reason, Spitha, renewed and reinforced by the mass participation of new social strata, Scientists, Artists, Professionals, Intellectuals and Youth will strive to become a unifying pole having as main objectives Resistance, Disengagement, Independence and Development, with the hope that this time we will be able get to the end, i.e. the conquest of our everlasting goals of National Independence, People’s Power and the Patriotic Renaissance and secondly of developing and proposing a new policy based on the disclosure and exploitation of the country’s wealth.
In other words as opposed to the policy implemented until the day before yesterday, we now move from the phase of Defense to the phase of Attack.
Based on what we have heard so far from scientists about the wealth of the country, we have decided to adapt our policy to the new conditions that this disclosure of wealth creates for the future of our country. This wealth is so important that if it remains in the hands of our people and using the most appropriate and cost-effective means for its immediate exploitation, we will become people not only self-sufficient but even rich. This new reality requires intense fight and hurry towards its success, given that the loot by our voracious friends has already begun and tomorrow it may be too late.
This message is a message of optimism and self-confidence that we send out today to the Greek people. We want to assure the people that our country is rich and for this reason, on the pretext of economy, they have fallen on us like rabid wolves, to neutralize us and loot us.
To tell our people that from now on they should act as the sole owner and master of the country's wealth. Do not agree to it being taken away from you. Organize yourselves in such a way that you decide how you will drive away the thieves, salvage your fortune and afterwards utilize it, driven solely by your own interest.
For this purpose, the new structure of Spitha sets as its main objectives Firstly informing and Secondly helping the organizing of unity and action, using new methods that will not cap but lead to the conquest and creation of a National Council that will emerge through the fight of the Greek people; without predefined saviors and without political parties ready to exploit their fights for their own benefit.
Spitha will continue to maintain its current structure, only with new deep incisions in the organization and operation of our members and our agencies, which will enable us to make it, as we said, a unifying pole of popular powers that adhere to our principles, program, action plan, tactics and strategy. The trigger for this change was given to us by the presence on our side of dozens of artists, a fact that automatically set the issue of defining the type of relation we would have with them. Between the integration in Spitha of those who wished it and a loose relationship with them, we choose co-operation and solidarity, under the condition that they accept our unitary-patriotic program.
This cooperation can be based on the creation of Co-operation Committees, e.g. of Artists, Scientists, Independent ones, and of groups with geographic, sectoral, professional identification, in which the members of Spitha will be able to participate, so that a common course is ensured. In any case, each Cooperation Committee will be autonomous aiming mainly at its expansion and massive appeal. It will have its own concerns, proposals, action plans and all kinds of public interventions. The unity between them will be ensured by the acceptance of the Unitary Plan. Within the framework of the Cooperation Committees’ tactics, we can examine forms of co operation with independent political forces, remaining on the one hand true to our core positions and on the other hand open to any proposal that will enrich and improve the fundamental axes of our strategy.
I shall remind you at this point the basic assessments and positions of our Program:
1. - The assessment that the country is under a status of dependence and therefore our basic goal is the conquest of National Independence.
2. - The character of the basic opposition of the Greek society is patriotic. That means that the whole of the people is affected equally, apart from the forces that constitute the System of political and economic Power. Therefore the nature of the struggle is patriotic and the sought Unity of the people ispatriotic.
3. - Our position in Europe does not exclude the application of a free multidisciplinary national policy that serves the interests of the Greek people.
4. - The governance system requires immediate Constitutional Change as well as changes at all levels of State-Power and citizen relations. The ideal form is that of Direct Democracy and thither we will try to get, facing all relevant actual problems.
5. - If the West continues to face us –as it has done since the creation of the Greek state- as second class nation and people, we shall not hesitate –within the framework of safeguarding our National Independence- to establish relations, mainly financial ones, with Russia and other countries such as China, which constitute the rival of the West.
6. - The West, with the Banking System as its flagship and the economy as its weapon, keeps a clearly hostile attitude towards us. On the pretext of public debt that the West came to reduce, but only succeeded in increasing it dramatically (from 112% of GDP in 2009 it will reach 180% of GDP in 2013), it has become apparent that they came to destroy us in every respect, to overcome our resistance and steal the large (unknown) wealth of the country. Therefore, the character of the struggle against the predatory invaders is liberating.
7. - Awareness of the existence of this wealth changes all data concerning the implementation of a purely patriotic policy.
a) The rescission-disengagement from all Memoranda, by which the foreigners are currently masters of our National Independence and potential owners of our national wealth, as well as the immediate recognition of the EEZ. It must be clear to everybody that even if our country gains one Euro out of its own production, that Euro has to be, according to the Memoranda, deposited in the 'Fund' and then go to our creditors.
b) The operation of the Parliament of Memoranda is used by our enemies as an alibi and a facade of a supposedly democratic legitimacy. Only the fact that the Opposition agrees to participate in the blatant mockery of votes, while knowing that all memorandum governments are minority and therefore unconstitutional (that is because e.g. national conventions have to be voted by 3/5 of the members of the parliament) and are essentially moving on the border of treacherous actions against our people and the nation, indicates that effectively it participates in the disorientation of the Greek people; its division, its neutralization. In other words, it is a useful instrument in the hands of all those who beat us mercilessly, eliminate us, aiming at neutralizing and robbing us.
Therefore our Movement is turned against the whole System of political and economic Power, including a Parliament that has become a puppet at the disposal of the Rulers.
c) Attacking the System head- on, we try to protect our people by all means, developing a large and powerful National Solidarity Movement. We must also keep up optimism and confidence in the people. In this area, artists and intellectuals have a lot to offer.
d) Our Movement undertakes to enlighten our People concerning the wealth that belongs to them. To boost their psychology and offer a new incentive, by convincing the Greek People that they are the sole owner-beneficiary and responsible for our national wealth. To prevent in any way its sellout. To defend it tooth and nail. And at the same time to contribute to its utilization.
e) Our Movement considers the existence and utilization of this wealth and our disengagement from the Memoranda and conquest of our national independence to be directly linked. If the People give us power and authority, then we become de facto their assignees, which means that we can negotiate with those who will wish and dare talk with us on the terms of co operation for its utilization. The crucial point for us is to ensure –vis-à-vis future cooperation- a significant amount (between 20 and 30 billion Euros) that will help us during the critical financial period between conquering power and the first fruits of economic development, that will initially rely on the exploitation of hydrocarbon reserves.
f) However, having secured this critical period, we’ll begin without delay the implementation of a comprehensive Economic-Social Development and Patriotic Renaissance Program.
During this period of struggle for our disengagement from Memoranda and conquest of our National Independence, the creation of the National Council will have been completed, a Council comprised of representatives of all Coordinating Committees (C.C.)
The undersea wealth is directly linked to the EEZ. Almost all states that have or believe they have undersea deposits, have determined their own sovereign EEZ. All except Greece. I wonder why. What forces and interests prevent the Greek governments from proceeding with an action that is considered obvious for others?
Even though on February 10, 2012, exploratory drilling was authorized by a Presidential Decree, the Government hesitates or rather doesn’t dare. Why?
Because some people obviously prevent them. But why? Maybe because, I suppose, if exploitation begins under present circumstances, any income coming from it, will go straight to the foreign banks of our lenders; that is because, according to the Memorandum, any income of any kind of exploitation is deposited compulsorily to the infamous FUND and then straight to the lenders.
Whereas, if the EEZ is recognized (which constitutes an act of national sovereignty), it is probably difficult for this predatory term to be smoothly implemented. We promise to realize this act, namely the immediate determination of the EEZ, simultaneously with the rescission of the Memoranda.
The delimitation alone of the EEZ, with its concealed wealth, as well as its management based on an independent foreign policy, will give us, according to our scientists, immediate and enormous economic power to face any financial need our country and our people have.
Having at its immediate disposal say 30 billion Euros, the new government will be able to face the anticipated tough economic measures that our lenders will certainly want to impose.
Therefore, the existence alone of this national wealth -because there are also others- ensures for the Movement a smooth transition towards the full conquest of our national independence. In other words, the goal we set is attainable. Realistic.
Professor George Kasimatis has repeatedly said, as he told us today, that the only realistic way to face this inhuman crisis and national enslavement that our lenders in cooperation with the Greek government have led us to, is this one. In addition, it is the only legitimate and democratic one, and the only one in accordance with the Constitution, the Treaties of the European Union and International Law. Moreover, we are based on recent historical examples that involve even Germany itself.
If the People want it, everything can evolve smoothly, given that the basis for our fights rests on principles and rights of the United Nations itself.
The only thing needed, is for the People’s will to be expressed in a massive and decisive manner, so that they are relieved from the current situation that not only financially oppresses, but also shames them. It is the Fight for the conquest of our National Independence that will lead us to economic and social Development. And at the same time, to Patriotic, Educational and Cultural Renaissance.
I am aware that the vision that I offer is as beautiful and valuable, as it is painful and difficult.
What I want from you is to listen to me carefully now, while there is still time, so that you don’t find yourselves in a position to say again for the umpteenth time “Mikis was right”, when it will be too late and even this last opportunity for the country will have been lost.
I for my part assure you and promise you that I have not only the will, the strength and the courage to stand in the forefront by your side throughout this ordeal, but also the physical strength that will help me to remain standing until the final victory.
